Virgin Media TV has announced an exciting new addition to its 3D offering, courtesy of a new line of 3D movies from Paramount Pictures and The Walt Disney Company.
Starting in April Virgin Media On Demand TV customers will be able to watch 3D films such as Jackass 3D and TRON: Legacy. Virgin Media’s pioneering on demand TV service is the first commercial 3D service to be available to millions of homes in the UK.
The new arrangement will provide a range of 3D content made available by FilmFlex for the first time on television exclusively for Virgin Media customers.
Aleks Habdank, director of On Demand Television & Strategy at Virgin Media said: “We’re thrilled to be adding this exciting range of new movies to our 3D video on demand service from two of the biggest studios Paramount Pictures and Disney. Virgin Media pioneered 3D on Demand in the home last year, and we’re continuing to deliver a range of 3D content that’s available to all of our customers and now coupled with our new TiVo-powered service we are able to provide viewers with the most compelling TV offering in the UK.”
Consumers who would like to sample the experience of Virgin Media’s 3D On Demand service simply needs to visit a Virgin Media retail store, where the service will be demonstrated on a range of stylish Samsung 3D TV’s. The On Demand Library of Virgin Media contains in excess of 4,600 hours of TV, film and music, and includes hundreds of hours of HD content available to watch at a touch of a button.
Any Virgin Media TV customer has the option of accessing 3D content without the need to pay an additional monthly fee. The only requirement is they have a V HD or V+ HD box or the new Virgin Media powered by TiVo service and a 3D television.
